RAI Amsterdam welcomes the Zuidas Sustainability Award 2026

The Zuidas Sustainability Award 2026 ceremony will take place at RAI Amsterdam on Thursday 12 November. The event reflects the growing role of sustainability within the Zuidas district and recognises initiatives that create social and environmental impact.

Donation Rooms recognised for sustainable impact
Last year, we won the award with our Donation Rooms initiative. Through this programme, leftover food, drinks and materials from events are donated to social organisations in Amsterdam, including the Salvation Army, De Regenboog Groep and the Amsterdam Food Bank. Today, we work structurally with more than fifteen partners.

What started as a single initiative has grown into an annual programme linked to multiple events. In 2025 alone, thousands of kilos of food, hundreds of square metres of furniture and a wide range of materials were redistributed and reused. Suppliers are increasingly joining the initiative as well. ExpoFlora, for example, donated furniture, plants and decoration materials.

Creating impact together in the city
With the Donation Rooms, we aim to reduce waste while supporting social organisations in the city. At the same time, organisers and exhibitors become more aware of the social and environmental impact of events.

The award ceremony brings together companies, organisations and initiatives from the Zuidas area around sustainability and collaboration. Volunteers from local businesses and the community can help collect, sort and distribute products during events.

Sustainability as part of the event industry
Hosting the Zuidas Sustainability Award highlights how sustainability is becoming an increasingly important part of the event industry. From reusing materials to building local partnerships, together with our partners we continue to develop events that not only connect people and markets, but also contribute to the city.
