Saturday, 11 January 2020

The city of Amsterdam and the global event, travel and hotel industry has been keenly anticipating the opening of nhow Amsterdam RAI. The second nhow hotel in the Netherlands opened for business on 10 January, with general manager Hermann Spatt personally welcoming the first guests. COO Maurits van der Sluis and RAI Amsterdam’s director of marketing & digital Eline Deijs were also present to congratulate the team on this milestone moment.

The Culture’s Hub
nhow Amsterdam RAI is the new social and multicultural hub in Amsterdam. “nhow believes that our hotels should be a dynamic hotspot in the city,” says Hermann Spatt. “They serve as a crossroads of people, ideas, art, gastronomy and cultural adventures. At nhow we cater to tourists, business travellers and locals. The interior design of the already iconic building symbolises the cultural melting pot that Amsterdam has been for over 400 years. We invite everyone to visit and enjoy the nhow experience for themselves.”

Multicultural and multifunctional
nhow Amsterdam RAI has six different room designs and four room types. The 650 hotel rooms and public spaces feature influences from around the world to create a vibrant mix of colours and patterns. The six unique room designs were inspired by the six directions in which the angles of the building point: South, East, North, Southwest, Southeast and Northwest.

Headquarter hotel for RAI Amsterdam
“As a multicultural hotspot, the hotel will be the home base for organisers, exhibitors and visitors of (inter)national events,” adds RAI COO Maurits van der Sluis. “It will allow RAI Amsterdam to strengthen its competitive position in the international exhibition and conference market and offers a unique concept to the city of Amsterdam.”

Thanks to the many events scheduled in the RAI, nhow Amsterdam RAI already has a large number of bookings for the coming year. Van de Sluis: “We will accommodate many exhibitors and visitors to Money2020, IBC, ISE, PLMA and the ESC in the hotel and more than half of the 650 rooms are booked. We expect the RAI to welcome more than 25,000 overnight stays in nhow Amsterdam RAI during 2020.”

With nine different spaces on the 23rd floor and stunning views over Amsterdam, the hotel offers a unique location for meetings and events, while the lounge on the first floor enables international guests and locals to work and network. On the top floor of the 91-metre building, THE ENTOURAGE GROUP is launching a Kitchen & Bar and Lounge & Bar with panoramic views over the city. The hotel is situated on the premises of the RAI complex at the conjunction of Europaboulevard, A10 ring road and RAI Amsterdam. Schiphol Airport is a mere ten minutes away by car or train and Dam Square just six minutes by metro.

Expansion of nhow in Northern Europe
The opening of the hotel marks an exciting start to 2020 for Maarten Markus, managing director Northern Europe of the NH Hotel Group: “We are only ten days into the new year and already opening our second nhow hotel. nhow London opened on 2 January, and the largest newly built hotel in the Benelux region followed on Friday 10th. We are raising the bar in offering guests an experience with a twist – in this case literally, with the 91-metre rotated structure. I am very proud to offer business travellers and tourists these two extraordinary brand-new hotels.”
