80 years of freedom: RAI Amsterdam supports the commemoration and celebration of 4 and 5 may

In 2025, the Netherlands marks 80 years of living in freedom. This special anniversary invites us to reflect on the past and look ahead to the future. Freedom is not something we can take for granted, and passing it on to future generations is a responsibility we all share.

At RAI Amsterdam, we are proud to contribute to this cause. Since 2024, we have been an official sponsor of the National Fund for 4 and 5 May. This multi-year partnership includes an annual financial contribution, enabling us to support the fund structurally in its mission to keep remembrance alive. “The message of the National Committee – that freedom must be cherished and actively passed on – aligns seamlessly with our organisational values”, says Paul Riemens, CEO of RAI Amsterdam. “For over a century, RAI Amsterdam has been a place where people come together, share ideas and build connections. The freedom to meet, speak, and innovate is deeply embedded in our identity”.

Celebration in Amsterdam
The city of Amsterdam will host a wide-ranging programme on 4 and 5 May, including the National Remembrance Ceremony on Dam Square, the 5 May concert on the Amstel River, and numerous local initiatives across the city. Within the walls of the RAI, we will also mark these special days by sharing dedicated content for both employees and visitors – content that highlights the meaning of freedom and builds a bridge between past and present. We invite our visitors, employees and partners to reflect on the importance of freedom: by engaging in conversation, by sharing stories, and by commemorating and celebrating together.
