Huishoudbeurs celebrates its 80th edition next year
For generations, the Huishoudbeurs has reflected everyday life in Dutch households. In 2027 the event reaches a remarkable milestone: its 80th edition at RAI Amsterdam. To mark the anniversary, a documentary is being produced that connects the history of the exhibition with the social developments that have shaped the Netherlands over the decades.
A reflection of daily life for generations
Since its first edition, the Huishoudbeurs has grown into a place where trends in everyday life become visible. From new products for the home to discussions about emancipation, changing family structures, sustainability and digitalisation. Developments in society often appear first on the exhibition floor.
Director Anne van Campenhout is currently working on a documentary about the event’s rich history. The film follows visitors and exhibitors with personal stories. Together they show how the Huishoudbeurs has evolved over the years, while remaining recognisable to new generations of visitors.
From exhibition floor to cinema
The 80th edition of the Huishoudbeurs will take place from 20 to 27 February 2027 at RAI Amsterdam. Ahead of the exhibition, the documentary will premiere on 7 February 2027 at the RAI Theatre. Afterwards, the film will also be shown in several cinemas, allowing a wider audience to discover the stories behind the event.
More details about the anniversary programme and the documentary will be announced at a later stage.
One of the Netherlands’ largest consumer events
The Huishoudbeurs remains a key event in the calendar of RAI Amsterdam. The most recent edition welcomed 118,000 visitors. Visitors travel from across the Netherlands and spend an average of 5.5 hours at the exhibition. 99 per cent leave with a purchase.
The exhibition is not only a meeting place for visitors, but also an important platform for brands. Over eight days, exhibitors together generate more than €12 million in sales.
The audience of the Huishoudbeurs represents a broad consumer group:
- 85% have completed secondary or higher vocational education
- 78% work, study or run a business
- 70% have an average or higher income
- 15% of visitors are men
This combination continues to make the Huishoudbeurs a place where brands meet their audience and where developments in everyday life become visible.
