At RAI Amsterdam, we strive to minimise the nuisance caused by events as much as possible and to offer solutions to prevent complaints.

For instance, we ensure that there is more intensive cleaning after large events. Additionally, we remind organisers and suppliers that they can park for free in our car parks to avoid parking problems and congestion. We also work closely with the City of Amsterdam to ensure that events run smoothly for both the neighbourhood and the RAI.

RAI Amsterdam is not authorised to take action regarding complaints about public spaces, such as outside the RAI premises; this includes issues like illegal parking, street cleaning, and the maintenance of green areas.

If you have a question or complaint, we recommend that you always report it to the municipality individually as a local resident. This way, the municipality can better map out the problems, develop long-term solutions, and respond more quickly.

Nuisance – Traffic and Parking

Setting up and dismantling an event involves a lot of logistical movements by exhibitors and organisers. We use the RAI Logistics Management System to register large deliveries at specified times. This means that trucks deliver materials gradually, reducing congestion in the surrounding area.

We also guide all suppliers to our parking areas, where they can park free of charge. RAI Amsterdam has ample parking for suppliers delivering materials for exhibitions and conferences. Vehicles up to 2.70 m in height can park in car parks P1 to P4. Vehicles over 2.70 m must park at the designated day parking location, with traffic controllers directing drivers to the appropriate site.

Unfortunately, we cannot always prevent vehicles from being parked in nearby streets. To minimise this, we place flyers under the windscreen wipers of vehicles during the set-up and breakdown of an event, urging drivers to use the RAI's parking areas.

We cannot prohibit the drivers of cars or vans from parking in other locations outside our premises. If the vehicle owner pays for parking and is parked correctly, RAI has no authority to act. However, the municipality can conduct such checks through its enforcement officers, who will only take action based on reports made by residents via the city app or website. Therefore, we recommend always reporting any issues to the municipality.

Nuisance – Event Set-up and Dismantling

During the set-up and dismantling of large events, RAI, in cooperation with the municipality, blocks off certain streets to reduce traffic disruption in the neighbourhood. This is done for major events like Provada and IBC, or public events such as the Winterparade or Holiday on Ice.

Local checkpoints monitor access, and if someone indicates they need to visit the doctor or go to the supermarket, they are allowed through. The area includes churches, childcare centres, and shops that must always remain accessible.
