Younger, more colourful, extra festive
During the 70th anniversary edition of the Huishoudbeurs, visitors spent an average of 120 euros - a 20% increase on the 2014 edition. The exhibition was a celebration with lots of gifts, food, drinks, performances and surprises. It also featured a retrospective on the past 70 years of the Huishoudbeurs, while the Asia Pasar Malam Festival provided the event with an extra colourful touch. Over the past nine days, ‘the mother of all exhibitions’ attracted thousands of enthusiastic visitors. The next edition of the Huishoudbeurs will take place from 20 to 28 February 2016 in Amsterdam RAI.
The preliminary results of a survey held among Huishoudbeurs visitors shows that the average visitor spent 120 euros on exhibitor products; a 20% increase compared to the previous edition. It also indicated that 94% of the visitors came to the event to enjoy a fun day out. The average visit time was six hours, the average size of the visitor groups was 2.9 persons and together the visitors collected around 20,000 kilos of clothing for aid organisation Mission without Borders.
Over the nine days of the event, the 70th edition attracted no less than 243,768 visitors; a clear increase in visitor numbers compared to last year. The Negenmaandenbeurs (for new and expectant mothers), which took place at the same time as the Huishoudbeurs, was also successful. The event was opened with a baby disco by Dutch actress Lieke van Lexmond on 25 February.
Proud exhibition manager
“We are very pleased with these positive results,” says Huishoudbeurs exhibition manager Nicole Mengerink. “The second edition of the Beauty Fashion Friends Event, which took place during the first weekend of the Huishoudbeurs, attracted around 6,000 young women between 15 and 25 years of age. In addition there was a plethora of workshops, performances, gifts and DJs at the entrance of the exhibition, all of which enhanced the festive atmosphere of the anniversary edition. Combined with the Asia Pasar Malam Festival, the Huishoudbeurs Museum and the Innovation Lab, it resulted in a very special Huishoudbeurs edition.”
