The World of Electronic Media and Entertainment
Around 60,000 television professionals, video and digital film specialists, TV managers and other related experts came together in RAI Amsterdam from 10 to 15 September for the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), which showcased the very latest developments in the field of electronic media and entertainment. The event comprises the IBC Exhibition, featuring the latest equipment and products, and the IBC conference, which is focused on the latest trends, business concepts and technology solutions. Taken as a whole , the IBC features all major developments in the broadcasting industry.
The Drone Zone
A new feature at this year’s IBC was the Drone Zone, where visitors were able to watch demonstrations of a wide variety of drones and learn about their possible applications when combined with cameras. The outdoor stand at the conference square of the RAI was especially unique, as it is not normally allowed to fly drones outdoors in the surroundings of Schiphol Airport – a regulation that is strictly enforced. Although situated within the area, RAI Amsterdam was able to find a solution while observing the regulations by constructing a cage covered with a net. Combined with its proactive attitude and close collaboration with the IBC organisers and exhibitors, the RAI was able to realise this unique Drone Zone.
The Big Screen Experience
One of the favourite attractions among IBC attendees was the IBC Big Screen Experience, which was used for revolutionary product demonstrations. Especially for IBC, the RAI Auditorium was equipped with state-of-the-art digital cinema technologies; which were more impressive than ever this year. With a width of 18 metres and a comprehensive range of colours, this innovation represents an important step towards even more high-quality screens in 3D on a cinematic scale.
