Showcasing innovation at Huishoudbeurs 2016
Including the ‘Dash Button’ which automatically completes digital shopping lists
The Huishoudbeurs, the largest consumer exhibition in the Netherlands, has begun. This year’s theme is Welcome to the Future, with the focus on innovations in the field of housekeeping and shopping. The Huishoudbeurs also includes the presentation of various pioneering projects together with partners such as the Store of the Future & the House of the Future. The 71st edition of this iconic exhibition takes place from 20 to 28 February 2016 in RAI Amsterdam.
The Store of the Future features innovations in the field of housekeeping and shopping, and allows visitors to experience what it is like to shop online with virtual reality glasses, or how everything can be voice activated using Echo. When talking to Echo, the programme answers questions, puts items on the agenda, or switches equipment on and off.
Bicycle with blind spot sensor
Van Hawks will show how cycling can be made simpler at the Huishoudbeurs. The featured bicycle has a sensor in the rear wheel that detects blind spots. It also comes with an unbreakable chain and a special navigation app.
“Whoever uses up something in the cupboard must add it to the shopping list,” is a comment that is often heard but rarely acted upon. The Dash Button offers a solution: with one press of the button linked to a specific product, items are automatically added to a digital shopping list.
Besides the many innovations, this year’s edition of the Huishoudbeurs also includes a plethora of new products, including the first permanent make-up by L’Oyé Cosmetics, the first mop with an integrated water reservoir by Guido Gusto, and a sponge for removing persistent stains by Piggy Clean, making cleaning the car without scratches easier than ever.
House of the Future
Independent environmental organisation Natuur & Milieu, the sustainable partner of RAI Amsterdam, will be presenting the ‘House of the Future’ at the Huishoudbeurs. The goal is to make visitors aware of the benefits of energy saving, and inspire them to make sustainable living choices. The house includes features such as solar panels, cavity wall insulation, energy-saving equipment (washer, TV, vacuum cleaner), eco-conscious furniture and bee-friendly plants in the garden.
