Risk scenarios and thrilling keynotes at Amsterdam Security Convention

From 31 October to 2 November 2017 RAI Amsterdam hosts one of the most inspiring security events of the moment. During Amsterdam Security Convention more than 1500 high-level IT and security professionals will share their knowledge on some of the major issues in the combined field of cyber- and physical security. Keynote speakers are – among many others – Melanie Rieback (Radically Open Security), Inge Philips (Deloitte, ICT Personality of 2017) and Patricia Zorko (NCTV).

Scenario-based programming
As a whole new approach the program of the Amsterdam Security Convention is based on the captivating film scenario of a cyber attack, that was enacted and filmed especially for the event. The film in 3 chapters relates the clever criminal attack on a distribution company that evolves into a bigger security incident, also effecting clients and third parties. The key topics addressed in the film – Security Awareness, The Human Factor, Risk Prevention, IoT and Incident Response – will be further explored by around 80 speakers during the 100 sessions of the event.

Top-level keynote speakers
Among the many speakers and seminar leaders are some of the most inspiring security experts of the industry. Such as ethical hacker Melanie Rieback, CEO of Radically Open Security, who wants to make cyber security complete transparent, to better fight cyber criminals together. Bart Willemsen, High Impact Crime director of the Dutch National Police, uses his keynote to give compelling insights in the approach of subversive organized crime. While Inge Philips, Cyber Services Director of Deloitte, recently elected ICT Personality of 2017, explains why more flexible management approaches can create the mindset that security teams need to be more effective.

Bridging the gap between IT and Security
Other speakers are well-known specialists in public safety, predictive profiling, social engineering and Big Data. Such as Marcel van de Velde (Security Academy), Pieter van Gelder (TU Delft), Marcel Saarloos (Transported Asset Protection Association), Harm van Dijk (ING Bank) and Rik Hoogendoorn (RAI Amsterdam). The main theme of the Amsterdam Security Convention is 'Bridging the gap between IT and Security' and many presentations and seminars focus on the need to efficiently combine physical and cyber security measures.

Sharing knowledge
As sharing knowdledge should never be a one-way street, the three-day Amsterdam Security Convention offers many opportunities for valuable exchanges among delegates, such as expert and breakout sessions, masterclasses, lunch meetings and networking drinks. Participants also have free access to the Amsterdam Security Expo, the more technical and product related tradeshow taking place in the exhibition hall next door.
