RAI supports neighbourhood theatre for people with dementia
Torendael, a residential centre for people with dementia, is less than 10 minutes' walk from the RAI. A theatre is being set up there to give residents a safe and reliable form of entertainment. RAI Amsterdam has donated items to this new neighbourhood meeting point.
The theatre will be open to the whole neighbourhood so as to provide a social meeting place in the residential centre. Torendael asked the RAI to aid in the realisation of the neighbourhood theatre, and we were happy to help.
The theatre is now starting to take shape, partly with the use of items and materials donated by the RAI. This has included room screens, a black leather settee, and posters in frames to announce the shows. This initiative is a great way to help local residents and prevent the waste of unused materials and items that would otherwise be thrown away.
