RAI hands out ice-cream to celebrate opening of North/South metro line
All passengers exiting the new metro at the Europaplein stop on Saturday 21 July were treated to a refreshing ice-cream by the RAI. A small example of our welcoming and hospitable nature, the gesture was much appreciated on another very hot day in Amsterdam.
More than 60,000 people were estimated to have visited the new North/South metro line on its first day. After the official programme and opening by eight Amsterdam residents on Saturday morning, the line was opened up to other residents and interested parties in the afternoon. The line was freely accessible to all from 14.00 to 21.00, with festive activities and performances in and around the stations throughout the day.
