More brands showcase sustainable and fair trade baby products at Negenmaandenbeurs (Nine Months Fair)
The growth in the number of ‘green’ products that will be presented at the Negenmaandenbeurs for new and expectant mothers illustrates the increasing importance of the issue of sustainability. In addition to a doubling of the number of brands at the Puur Baby Plaza, this year’s exhibition will also provide room for six sustainable start-ups. These will be showcased on the special ASN Bank start-up square where visitors can explore the eco-friendly theme via various creative workshops. The Negenmaandenbeurs will be held from 22 to 26 February in RAI Amsterdam.
Greater awareness among parents
The Negenmaandenbeurs will be the ideal place for brands to inform expectant parents about the sustainable choices they can make for their child. The visitors, of which 63% are expected to be pregnant women, will be looking for straightforward information combined with a fun excursion.
“There is an increasing demand for sustainable products and food among expectant parents,” Negenmaandenbeurs exhibition manager Danielle Master Wassink explains. “They are consciously choosing wholesome products such as personal care items without chemical additives, sustainable textiles and organic foods.” The range of ‘green’ companies is also increasing, Danielle notes. “The number of participating companies in the Puur Baby Plaza, the square featuring wholesome baby products, will be at least double that of last year.”
The start-ups have developed creative workshops especially for this edition of the Negenmaandenbeurs, allowing visitors to the exhibition to find out on their own and in a playful way how they can take steps towards a healthier lifestyle for their child. They jointly offer a varied and interactive workshop programme, ranging from dyeing ‘swaddles’ (hydrophilic cloth in organic cotton) with natural dyes to creating toys from wood and wheels. In addition to these creative workshops, there will be a workshop about food at the Goodbaby Food stand. Visitors will also be able to sample snack vegetables every day in Tommie’s Vitamin Garden.
