Mariëlle de Macker joins Supervisory Board of RAI Amsterdam
Mariëlle de Macker, the new member of RAI Amsterdam’s Supervisory Board, has extensive experience in Human Resource Management in various international companies. She works as a human resource director and is a member of the Management Board at HEMA. A special feature of the selection process was that it involved full consultation between the RAI’s Supervisory Board and works council. De Macker will assume her responsibilities as member of the Supervisory Board of RAI Amsterdam on 17 March 2017.
Annemarie van Gaal, one of the other members of the RAI Amsterdam Supervisory Board, explained the process: “We conducted our search for a new member of the Board in what I understand to be a completely unique way, with an enhanced right of recommendation for the works council. The preparations for the profile, the selection of a shortlist and the interviews with potential candidates were all carried out by a joint delegation of the works council and the Supervisory Board selection committee. The ultimate choice of candidate to propose to the shareholders was also made jointly by the works council and Supervisory Board. It was a very special way of working and one which all those involved found highly constructive and enjoyable.”
RAI Amsterdam plays a leading role in the European exhibition and conference industry. Its international focus and strategy – aimed at generating ‘valuable encounters’ – has been highly successful in recent years. At the same time, the RAI aims to streamline its organisation and boost innovation in order to respond effectively to current economic and technological developments across the globe. In this context, RAI Amsterdam sees Mariëlle de Macker, with her longstanding knowledge and experience of HR and personal affinity with digitisation, as a highly valuable addition to its Supervisory Board.
The Supervisory Board of RAI Amsterdam also consists of Roelf de Boer (chair), John van der Steen and Annemarie van Gaal.
