Horecava 2018: visitors appreciate future perspectives.
The 62nd edition of the Horecava trade show on Amsterdam fully lived up to its theme of ‘Taste the future’ with an impressive 75% of visitors saying that they found Horecava 2018 to be more innovative than the previous edition. The exhibition featured a wealth of initiatives, including future trends in the Innovation & TrendLAB, various pop-up restaurants, new competitions and the additional Fast Casual & On the Move hall. The latter addressed changing consumer demands for easy-to-use concepts and was visited by two-thirds of all visitors. Three-quarters of the visitors indicated that they visited the exhibition to see new products, services and technologies. This and other visitor feedback makes clear that Horecava 2018 – which took place in RAI Amsterdam from 8 to 11 January – both met and exceeded expectations.
The trade event was visited by a total of 66,444 professionals; 2% more than in 2017. There was a surprising increase in the number of new visitors, part of whom came from speciality shops. The fact that retail is increasingly focused on the food service & hospitality sector was also evident in the visitor profile. The decision-making level of the visitors was similar to the previous year.
Horecava has now grown so extensive that a multi-day visit is recommended, and twice as many visitors attended the event on more than one day compared to last year. Their positive response underlines the fact that Horecava is a stimulating event. Comments included: “Constructive and a good range of opportunities for innovation and application”, and “Horecava was inspiring, challenging and surprising. A great place to taste new things every year."
This positive vibe was also experienced by Luuk Scholte, exhibition manager of the Horecava: “The fact that the food service & hospitality industry is doing well was illustrated during the exhibition by the addition of new segments and target groups. This enabled us to provide a complete overview for Dutch food service & hospitality professionals and to also surprise them at the same time. It is great to hear that visitors recognised the major steps we took to innovate the event and the exhibitors were very positive as well.”
