Horecava 2017 shows food sector is ready for the future
Sustainability and innovation go hand in hand
An entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to invest characterised the 61st edition of the Horecava trade show for professionals in the food service and hospitality industry, which ran from 9 to 12 January in RAI Amsterdam. The numerous innovations and new products developed over the past year were very well-received, and the participating companies focused on exploring additional business opportunities (71%). A survey of the 700-plus exhibitors indicated that they had contact with many visitors with concrete purchasing plans. All this and more made Horecava 2017 a success for exhibitors, visitors and organisers alike.
The leading trade exhibition for the food service and hospitality industry welcomed a total of 65,328 professionals; a 3.7% increase on 2016. “The week was characterised by a positive atmosphere,” says exhibition manager Luuk Scholte. “It was very clear that the sector is growing again. As Horecava organisers, we aimed to bring trends and developments to life in a unique environment with amazing experiences. The exhibitors also featured increasingly impressive presentations with a focus on experience. The themes of this edition – sustainability, innovation and experience – were in line with the current market. We received a lot of positive feedback on the more large-scale setup which highlighted the Food hall and featured a wealth of new presentations such as the No Waste Village and a new version of the InnovationLAB.”
