Full house at HISWA Amsterdam Boat Show 2016
The watersport industry has clearly picked up. With only two weeks to go, the exhibitor list for HISWA 2016 totals some 300 participants, filling the entire exhibition floor. Divided over six halls, an impressive number of newcomers and a wealth of returning exhibitors will be showcasing the latest boats, parts, accessories and developments in the watersport sector. With the world’s largest range of launches and an increase in the number of sailboats and speed boats compared to previous edition, the show is a must-visit for all watersport fans. In addition to the hundreds of vessels up to around ten metres and the many special boats, there are plenty of great activities for young and old alike, including lectures, workshops on boat maintenance, and an extensive programme on the water. HISWA Amsterdam Boat Show 2016 takes place from Wednesday 16 to Sunday 20 March in RAI Amsterdam.
With an extremely comprehensive offer within the seven segments (Sailing, Launch, Speed, Fun Sports, Parts & Accessories, Classics and Shop), HISWA 2016 offers visitors a varied overview of the main providers in the watersport sector.
“The exhibition floor will be packed,” says exhibition manager Joost Ringeling. “We will be welcoming many returning exhibitors, generally with a larger offer than last year. There are also scores of new participants, helping make each segment even more complete than the previous edition. Although I cannot speak for the individual companies, it does seem that the market has picked up, and I am very confident that the coming edition will be a great success.”
More speed boats
Like previous years, the HISWA will feature the largest number of launches on display worldwide, as well as a broad range of sailboats. The number of speed boats is also much higher than in previous editions. Well-known importers such as Kuysten Watersport and Omtzigt Watersport are returning to the exhibition after being absent in 2015. In addition, Kolvenbach, Heemhorst Watersport, Holland Sport Boat Centre and Kempers Watersport will be presenting various speed boats during the event. Visitors can look forward to perusing the following brands: Bayliner, Chris Craft, Crown Line, Four Winns, Grandezza, Malibu, Sea Ray and Regal.
Besides speed boats, there will also be a variety of motorboats, RIBs and console boats on display. The Parts & Accessories segment will feature products for every type of boat imaginable, and the Fun Sports segment has grown too. Moreover, all the nominees for the ‘Boat of the Year’ Award will be highlighted during the exhibition, while the HISWA Classics segment offers visitors various classic maritime gems. The complete exhibitor list is available at www.hiswarai.nl/deelnemers.
Extensive activity programme
The 61st edition of the HISWA will also host a wide variety of activities, including many in the RAI Marina. This involves everything from manoeuvring clinics, SUPing, electric sailing and wakeboarding demonstrations to sailing in dinghies for the younger crowd. The exhibition also includes the Sail Theatre and Mirror Theatre with interesting lectures and travel stories.
In the Fun Zone younger visitors can try their hand at SUPing, skimboarding or surfing, or try out a kitesurfing simulator and waterskiing machine. DIY enthusiasts will enjoy the Maintenance Pavilion and Demo Square with their educational workshops on keeping boats ship-shape. HISWA Classics features a new basin with mini-barges, while the InnovationLAB presents the latest development and innovations in an interactive way. The upcoming Olympics are the focal point of the Olympic Classes Pavilion. An overview of all the activities is available via www.hiswarai.nl/programma.
