Dutch watersport fans see sailing and Stand Up Paddling as the trends for 2015

Sailing and Stand Up Paddling (SUPing) are the trends in 2015. If we could choose for ourselves we would sail around the world with Chantal Janzen, and 78% of all watersport fans sees a bright (financial) future ahead. These are some of the results of a survey carried out among 1,194 sailors by the HISWA Amsterdam Boat Show. The 2015 edition of the show will take place from 11 to 15 March in RAI Amsterdam

Watersport enthusiasts enjoy sailing with others, preferably their partner (57%), family (49%) or friends (46%). Only 19% prefer to sail alone. In response to a question about trends on the water, sailing came first with 29%, motorboating second with 27% and Stand Up Paddling (SUPing), which has become firmly anchored in the watersport world, achieved third place with 24%. Asked which Dutch celebrity people would like to sail around the world, the majority named musical and television star Chantal Janzen.

Annoyances on the water
The most common annoyances on the water are dumping waste (64%), people who are unfamiliar with sailing regulations (57%), and jumping the queue at locks (44%). Respondents felt that the following measures should be taken: implementing an obligatory sailing certificate for every motorboat (48%), installing speed limiters on speedboats (26%) and not building wind turbines in watersport areas (17%).

Increase purchasing plans
No less than 78% of Dutch watersport fans see a bright financial future ahead: 32% of the respondents have increased their purchasing plans for watersport products compared to last year.

Love
The best place to make love is onboard a motoryacht with 35%, while saloon sailing yachts hold a firm second place with 26%. Rubber dinghies came in last with only 1%.
