Innovations and sustainability in the spotlight at Green Buildings 2016

The Green Building conference in RAI Amsterdam on 23 March 2016 will focus on innovations that contribute to increasing the sustainability of buildings. In addition to a programme of leading inspirational speakers, innovative parties will have a unique opportunity to pitch their state-of-the-art concepts, products and/or ideas to some 350 decision-makers representing around 25 million square metres of buildings. The best innovation will be presented with the ABN AMRO Innovation Challenge Award 2016 and a sum of €10,000.

The Netherlands: frontrunner in sustainable buildings

The ambitious climate change agreement established in Paris in December 2015 increases the potential of innovations and start-ups from entrepreneurial companies in the Netherlands. The Green Building conference includes an Innovation Challenge, which offers a platform for the latest, best and most inspiring ideas and innovations related to increasing the sustainability of existing buildings in the Netherlands. The event will also feature the latest perspectives on environmental friendliness, circular buildings and technological innovations.

“The goal for the Netherlands is to be a frontrunner in the field of circular buildings within 15 years,” says Bram Adema, day chairman of the conference and CFP director, member of the ambition council 2020 of CSR Netherlands, and board member of the Dutch Green Building Council, among other functions. “By sharing innovations, we can create products and services that meet the demands of the market, and by sharing ideas we become part of the solution.”

First prize for the best innovation: €10,000

In addition to the 40-plus innovations and start-ups, the conference will feature top speakers, including HRH Princess Laurentien, former Dutch minister or Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment Pieter Winsemius, leading Dutch architect Pi de Bruijn of Architekten Cie (renowned for iconic projects such as the ArenA Boulevard in Amsterdam, the head office of Essent in Den Bosch and the Holland Casino in Scheveningen) and adventurer Wilco van Rooijen from the zero waste expedition to Antarctica

Innovative parties will have the unique opportunity to pitch their state-of-the-art concept, product and/or idea, all of which should contribute to the sustainable design, use and realisation of buildings. Visitors will be presented with an afternoon of the latest market developments in an inspiring way, and have the opportunity to determine which innovation should receive the ABN AMRO Innovation Challenge Award 2016. The first prize of €10,000 is provided by ABN AMRO.
