The world’s first dedicated trade show and conference for the cold-water seafood sector will make its debut on 10 to 12 October 2023 at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre. It will welcome industry leaders, companies, experts and delegates from around the globe to the Dutch capital to meet in person, share knowledge and conduct business in a professional and productive way. This exciting new joint expansion of activities was announced by RAI Amsterdam and Aqkva.
The International Seafood Exhibition Coldwater Seafood 2023 is a joint project between RAI Amsterdam and the renowned Norwegian company Aqkva. “I am delighted with this partnership and the potential it offers,” comments RAI Amsterdam COO Maurits van der Sluis. “Together we can combine the RAI’s 100-plus-years of experience as an event organiser in the Netherlands and abroad with a seasoned organiser of conferences within the fish farming and fisheries sector. Add in the dedicated cooperation of Amsterdam’s local government and the Dutch business and service sectors and we have all the ingredients in place to make Coldwater Seafood 2023 a resounding success.”
“We are committed to creating the best possible platform for promoting, trading and exhibiting all kinds of seafood, with a particular focus on seafood grown slowly in the cold waters of the north,” says Vidar Onarheim, CEO of Aqkva. “Having an expert partner like RAI Amsterdam onboard offers a further guarantee that Coldwater Seafood will become the networking port of choice for the cold-water seafood industry.”
International cooperation
The need for greater international cooperation is clear in a world that will be increasingly dependent on seafood in the future. As the global population grows to an expected 9.7 billion in 2050, there is limited additional production capacity available from traditional land-based agriculture. The future growth in food production will lean heavily on seafood of all sorts, which is also regarded as healthier by consumers. Seafood from cold waters tends to grow slower and in cleaner water, which fits in with the prevailing trends as well as returning a higher quality product for this growing market.
