Our shareholders

The activities of Amsterdam RAI B.V. are carried out under the responsibility of RAI Holding B.V. 75% of the shares in this holding company are held by the RAI Association, the trade association for manufacturers and importers of motor vehicles, and the remaining 25% by the Municipality of Amsterdam.

The RAI Association’s involvement in Amsterdam RAI B.V. is due to its origins and to its need to be able to provide adequate space and facilities for the exhibitions held by its member trade associations. Economic factors explain the involvement of the Municipality of Amsterdam. International exhibitions and conferences have always been major engines of the regional economy. In 2003 the original limited partnership was converted into a holding company known as RAI Holding B.V. 2005 was an important milestone for Amsterdam RAI as it saw the end of the role of the Municipality of Amsterdam as co-financier of the RAI. All loans from the Municipality have now been replaced by private funding.
